Definition Of Paragraphs And Examples

1.   EXPOSITION PARAGRAPH

Contains a description or explanation of a topic with the aim of giving information.

Example:

            Humans need nutritious foods for fulfill nutrients, also for energy reserves. Humans really need nutrients to grow, in order to production and maintain health. Without nutrients from foods, our bodies are unable to maintain its temperature, construct or tissue repair, or maintain heartbeat. Balanced nutrition include the diversity of foods, including food sources of energy substances (carbohydrates), which is the main food source builder substances (proteins) through the side dishes, and a source of regulatory substances through vegetables and fruits.

2.     ARGUMENTS PARAGRAPH

Aiming to prove the truth of an opinion / conclusion to the data / facts concepts as reasons / evidence.

Example:

            Good nutrition can help prevent disease and promote health. Consumption of important fruits and vegetables ensures lower level of mortality and reduces various degenerative diseases,During lifetime an individual consumes 30 tons of food on average in seemingly endless dietary varieties.Nutrition is deemed functional on condition that it beneficially influences various body functions. Weight issues have always influenced Indonesian  society, involving health, psychological and socio-emotional considerations.

3.      DESCRIPTION PARAGRAPH

Contains an overview of a thing or situation so that the reader as if to see, feel or hear it.

Example:

            When I started the search for knowledge in a congregation or study, the first thing  always taught before entering into aqidah  material , worship and morality is ma'rifatul material science. The purpose of this material is delivered so that members understand the importance of studying. Moreover, the science of religion. Currently, I'm studying in Islamic religious education faculty , University Muhammadiyah Tangerang on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There I learn through the teachers who teach their respective disciplines. Very pleasant when meeting these days because on these days I learn the sciences with  hoping  my knowledges will increase which will have high degrees as stated in Al-Qur`an.  Al-Mujadila verse 11 that “Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degree. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.’

4.      PERSUASION PARAGRAPH

This essay aims to influence the reader's emotions in order to do something.

Example:

            Homework is an important part of the learning process in middle school. One reason is that homework gives students additional practice of skills covered in class. Middle school classes are too short to teach a new concept and practice it sufficiently for students to master. Students need both guided practice in class and independent practice at home. Another reason for homework is that it provides time to complete longer assignments. For example, the ideal composition process allows time for students to think and to reflect on their ideas, as well as time to revise and to proofread their writing. Also, reports and special projects often require research that can not always be done at school. In addition, since all students do not work at the same speed, giving students time at home to finish work keeps them from falling behind. Finally, the most important reason for homework is that it ensures review. New material and old material are practiced in daily assignments. Students who do their homework daily are prepared for tests and make better grades. In conclusion, not only is homework essential to mastering new skills and maintaining previously learned skills, but it also guarantees constant review and provides time for longer assignments, as well as additional time for students who need it. Students, do your daily homework, make better grades, and learn more!

5.      NARRATIVE PARAGRAPH

This essay contains a series of events one after another, thus forming a storyline. Authorship of this type mostly based on imagination.

Example:

            Last week was a long vacation and an enjoyable moment for me. First, on Friday afternoon, I was visiting a relative's house, there I met many families. Gathering family we rarely do because of  busy each. so last Friday was a special day for us. On Saturday,  I  and my friends visited the book fair, quite a lot of visitors there. The books exhibited in the form of books on religion, science, biographies of famous people and books for kids. We  bought  some books that we found interesting to read. Finally, on Sunday, I rode my bike in surrounding the complex where I live. By the end of the day, my legs were very tired. I only hope that next weekend can be as fun as this one.
